The Power Of Money.

Read 881 Times
There is a saying that "Money is the root of all evil," would you find yourself agreeing with this statement. For those of us old enough to remember some of the Beatle's work, in one of their songs they put it this way, "I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love."

Unfortunately, this is not quite true; In our world today money can buy almost anything, including the love of a good woman. Just look at how many "Has been" pop and film stars who always manage to be seen with a beautiful woman on their arms. Is it their charm, charisma and good looks, or the fact they are very rich that makes them attractive?

Money alone is not the problem in our lives, but how we spend it that matters most. When you spend money to meet your real needs and the needs of others, you are spending wisely.

The money parents spend in providing for their children and their education is wisely spent.

The money we all pay in taxes, is used we hope, to meet the needs of others, especially the most vulnerable in our society.

Money that is wisely spent will make friends, but money spent foolishly will often make enemies. Whilst the better off spend their money on consumer goods, they do not often need, millions more lack the money to pay for the basic necessities of life. This extravagant spending makes enemies in communities across the world, where people live without work, in poor housing or an adequate income and in some cases lack of food. In large cities this often creates areas of increased deprivation, higher crime rates and in some cases even violence and terrorism.

Every criminal or terrorist must take responsibility for their own actions and must answer for them. Likewise, When we see poor hungry people in our world today, we too must take responsibility and answer for our own actions, or in some cases lack of them.

Jesus tells us, "For which is the greater, the one who sits at table, or the one who serves?"
