Don’t Quit!

Read 1105 Times
Wishing to encourage her young son's progress on the piano, a mother took her son to a piano concert. After they were seated, his mother spotted a friend in the audience, telling her son to sit still and that she wouldn't be long, she went down the aisle to have a quick word with her friend. Seizing the opportunity to explore the wonders of the concert hall, the little lad wandered through a door marked, "No Admittance." When the house lights dimmed, the mother returned to her seat, to find that the little lad was missing. Suddenly, the curtains parted and the spotlight focused on a little lad seated at the piano, who started to play, "Twinkle twinkle little star. At that moment the great maestro appeared to thunderous applause from the audience, he approached the little lad and whispered in his ear, "Don't stop, keep on playing." He leaned over and began to fill in the bass part. Soon his right arm reached round the other side of the child and added a running obligato, together the young boy and the maestro captivated the audience. When they had finished, he led the lad to the front of the stage to take a bow and they received a standing ovation from the appreciative gathering.

That's the way it is with God, what we can accomplish on our own is hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but the results aren't exactly graceful flowing music, but with the hand of the Master, our life's work can be truly beautiful. Next time you set out to accomplish great deeds, listen carefully for the voice whispering in your ear and telling you, "Don't quit, keep on playing," then feel his loving arms around you as you play the concerto of your life.

"Truly, truly, I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing."
