The Good Life.

Read 121 Times
Tony and Yvonne were 85yrs old and had been married for 60yrs. They were far from rich, but they managed quite well because Yvonne watched the pennies. They were both remarkably healthy, mainly due to Yvonne insisting they live a healthy lifestyle and banning smoking, drinking alcohol and eating fatty foods. But every week her husband used to go to his golf course and enjoy a large fried breakfast, a round of golf, a couple of pints of beer and a large cigar, which kept him going for another week. The only luxury his wife enjoyed was their holidays in the sun every year, but this year disaster struck and their holiday plane crashed and they were both killed.

St Peter met them at the gates and escorted them to a beautiful mansion, furnished in gold and fine silks, with a fully stocked kitchen and a small waterfall in the master bedroom. A maid could be seen hanging their favourite clothes in the wardrobe and they gasped with astonishment. St Peter said, "Welcome to heaven, this will be your home from now on." They asked how much all this was going to cost, St Peter smiled and said, "Nothing, this is heaven and everything is free." Tony looked out of the window and saw a championship golf course, finer and more beautiful than any he had seen on earth. Next St Peter took them to the clubhouse and they saw a buffet lunch laid out with seafood, steaks, exotic deserts, beers, wines and spirits, all free for the asking. St Peter smiled at their surprise and said, "The best part of being in heaven is that you can eat and drink as much as you want and you will never get fat."

At this, Tony glared at his wife and said, "Do you realise that if it wasn't for all your healthy eating, we both could have been here at least ten years ago"

"Reflect upon your present blessings, of which man has plenty and not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some."
