Eighty Not Out.

Read 128 Times
A traffic officer was parked in a lay-by when a car passed going very slowly and causing a backlog of motorists behind. Concerned, he pulled the car over and found four elderly ladies gazing at him, He spoke to the elderly driver who looked about 80yrs saying, "Do you realise it is very dangerous driving so slowly?" The driver responded, "Oh, I always drive to the speed limit, look, there's the speed sign - A22. Trying not to smile the officer replied, "That's not the speed limit madam, it's the number of the road. "Oh," said the driver, "I didn't know that, thank you for pointing that out." The officer looked into the car and noticed one of the passengers was shaking quite badly, so he said to the driver, "One of your passengers doesn't look too well madam." Oh, she will be fine," said the driver, "she doesn't like me driving at speed and you see we've just come off the A120."

Today, dear Lord I am 80 and there's so much I haven't yet done.
I hope dear Lord that you'll let me live until I'm 81.
But then if I haven't finished all I want to do.
Would you let me stay a little while, until I'm 82?
So many places I want to go, so very much to see.
Do you think you can manage to make it 83.
The world is changing very fast; there is so much in store.
And so I'd like to stay around until I'm 84.
And if by then, I'm still alive, I'd like to stay until I'm 85.
I've always loved horse racing, especially over the sticks.
I'd like to be around to see a winner, when I'm 86.
I know dear Lord it's much to ask and I'm looking forward to heaven.
But I would really like to stay down here, until I'm 87.
I know by then I won't be fast and sometimes I'll be late.
But it would be oh so pleasant to be around at 88.
I will have seen so many things and had a wonderful time.
So I'm sure I'll be willing to leave it all, when I'm 89.... Maybe!
Embrace every minute of life, because they are all interconnected, one with the other. They are all yours, because this is your autobiography.
