Heaven and Hell.
Read 411 Times
A holy man once had a disturbing dream and in his dream he met with the Lord and had a long conversation with him. After a while, he asked, "Lord could you show me what heaven and hell are really like."? The Lord led the holy man to two unmarked doors. He opened the first one and the holy man looked inside. In the middle of an immense room was a round table with a large pot of stew in the middle. The stew smelled so delicious that it made the holy man's mouth water. Then he noticed that all the people sitting round the table were all thin and emaciated, but they all appeared to be famished. They were all holding large spoons with very long handles and they were feverishly trying to feed themselves from the pot of stew. Because the handles were longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths. The holy man shuddered at the sight of so much misery and suffering and the Lord said to him, "Now you have seen what it is like in hell."
The Lord took him to the next door, opened it and said, "Welcome to heaven." Inside it was exactly the same as the first room. Again there was an immense room and a round table and in the middle was the same pot of delicious stew, the smell of which again made the holy man's mouth water. The people were all equipped with the same long handled spoons, but here the similarity ended. These people were well nourished, laughing and joking as they sat around the table enjoying their meal. The holy man looked at the Lord and said," I don't understand what's happening here." The Lord replied, "These people are in heaven and are happy and well fed because they love their neighbour and are prepared to serve and feed one another, whilst the selfish who are in hell think only of themselves."
"Jesus, why is it that the more I love and do for my fellow man, the more abundantly You seem to give to me."
