8th Seacroft (St. Gregory’s) Rainbows
Read 2916 Times
The Rainbows have been learning about different festivals - completing their Roundabout Festival Badge.
They visited Australia (in the school hall) and made boomerangs; we tried some Aussie words and the equivalent in UK. We also visited China and tried some Chinese food, practised Chinese writing and looked at how China celebrated new year.
Rainbows have also been getting healthy this term and we were visited by the Teddy Bear Hospital university team who brought lots of activities such as Looking after teeth, learning what our organs do, and what is good food and unhealthy food. Girls practised how to put a sling on an arm, and looked at different medical items. We had a lovely visit from ‘Oggles' Hedgehog Rescue Centre who look after injured and homeless hoggies. We made Hedgehog puppets.
This term we are looking at people with disabilities. We looked at how blind people read and made Braille name cards, we also made texture pictures and used blindfolds to feel if different toys were suitable for a blind person. We looked at how people in wheelchairs play sports and played sit down volleyball.
In the future, we have a visitor from ‘Dogs for Good' coming to the unit to show the girls how dogs help people with disabilities. We will finish the badge by having a deafness evening, learning sign language.
Always busy and fun at Rainbows!!
