The Gift of Life
Read 1183 Times
It was a few months before her tenth wedding anniversary and Francis Wilkinson knew exactly what she would buy her husband as a surprise anniversary gift. The problem was, that it wasn't available in any of the local shops, so she looked on the internet for a specialist store that stocked the item. Then came the next problem, it was more than she could afford out of her weekly budget.
Undaunted, she rang the store and asked if she could pay by three monthly instalments, the store agreed saying that the item would be delivered upon receipt of the final payment.
On July 4th, during an armed robbery, her husband David was shot three times in the chest, when thieves raided his security van. When the police called at her house to tell Francis that her husband had been shot and was in hospital, her heart sank. They said they no other details, so they couldn't say how badly he had been injured, the police used lights and sirens to get her to the hospital as quickly as possible. In a daze she went upstairs in the lift to her husband's ward and rushing in, she was surprised but relieved to find her husband sitting up in bed and smiling at her. If she had not given him an early anniversary present of a bullet proof vest, her husband would be dead and not just hospitalised with only three bruise on his chest, to show off his dangerous encounter.
This loving caring wife, who had already given the gift of life to their two young sons, had now given her husband the gift of life also.
The more you give, the more you get, the more you laugh, the less
you fret. The more you do unselfishly, the more you live abundantly.
