There are now 47 commissioned schools in the Diocese of Leeds. They are ‘turning concern into action’ by connecting their beliefs and values with service activities and issues in the community making their faith real, meaningful and relevant.

On the Feast Day of St. Vincent de Paul, September 27th, 500 Mini Vinnies from the 47 schools attended a Mass at the Cathedral of St. Anne, celebrated by Bishop Marcus. It was a wonderful, uplifting and spiritual experience for the young people: The Bishop gave a Homily praising these young people and the work they are undertaking in their schools, parishes and local communities.

Minnie Vinnies in actionAs Advent approaches they are busy collecting food to make hampers for those in need and collecting toys and books for families with young children. They are also visiting residential homes and hospitals to engage with those there – singing Carols and generally bringing joy and goodwill during the season of advent.
