St Theresa's Retirement Club

Read 1474 Times
As we draw near to the end of year 2016, our Silver Jubilee year, we at the Retirement Club know that the club founded in 1991 by the then Parish Priest Canon Tagney and a group of dedicated people, has, and still is delivering the purpose for which it was intended.

With a membership of 100 plus and an average attendance of 80 the club has gone from strength to strength providing social recreation for retired members of St Theresa's and surrounding parishes.

Sadly, in recent years, we have lost some of our long time members R.I.P. but we are fortunate that we have four of our founder members still with us and as this is our silver jubilee we listened to an interesting talk given by our founding member Austin Young about the formation of the club and the early days.

We said goodbye and thank you to our Parish Priest and president Father Paul Fisher as he left to take up his new appointment.

We have a few simple, basic rules which were set out in 1991, these rules, together with one new rule made recently, have been kept without any modification or alteration.

We meet on Mondays at the Newman Centre from 2-4pm. We have entertainment, dancing, trips to coast and country, Tea, Coffee and biscuits are served followed bingo and raffle (which are optional)

The annual fee is £2 and the weekly fee is £2.

We are open to new members.

The midday Mass at 1:15 is especially timed to enable our members to attend before the meeting begins.

All our members would like to express our grateful thanks to our Priests, past and present, and the Parish Council for providing the accommodation and facilities for the past twenty five years.

Thank You

A.M.
