Guides are for girls aged from 10 to 14 years old. It is a safe, girl only, zone where they can have fun. It is for girls of every faith or no faith. The new Guide Promise now incorporates the words “To be true to myself and develop my beliefs”. We plan a balanced program to include badges, outdoor activities, games and more. Here is what some of
the Guides have to say about our unit.
“We did the CookaFun badge and made some pasta. We have been making bread and trying different breads from other countries across the world.” Amelia
“For our badge now we are doing CookaFun. We have made fruit friends by decorating pieces of fruit. We have also made bread from scratch. This week we made pasta and also we’ve tried different breads. I have made loads of new friends and I enjoy going on camp with Guides. I like Guides because we do different things and earn badges. I have about four badges - fire safety, science, CookaFun and lights, camera, action.” Ellie
“At Guides we do lots of fun stuff like wall climbing and we are going on a big camp in the summer called Wellies and Wristbands. In Guides you make friends and giggle lots. Join us on our adventure NOW!” Ava
“I have made lots of new friends. We do lots of fun stuff for example going to the climbing wall, snowzone and on the summer and winter camps. I can’t wait for the wellies and wristbands camp in the summer”. Emma
“Last year we went to City Block. It was amazing. We were taught how to warm up and climb the walls. We have also been on camp outside and in a house, it was so much fun.” Megan
“We made bread which tasted AMAZING! We enjoyed making pasta because while we were cooking we made friends. Also at Guides we discover new ways of cooking and creating and finding new games. When we are at Guides sometimes the leaders decide that we can go on camp which is always good fun. I always enjoy new people joining because it is a great way to make new friends. The most enjoyable part that I enjoy at Guides is when we go to camp because we meet new Guide members and it is a bunch of fun. Soon we will be going on a camp called wellies and wristbands which I know will be a great experience.” Olivia
Senior Section is aimed at the older Guides and girls over 14 years old.
“At Senior Section we have done lots of fun stuff like baking an Oreo cake for Beth’s Birthday. Also we went swimming at John Smeaton leisure centre. We have also done the “I’m a Celebrity get me out of here” challenge. It was really good. We organise our own activities and everyone has a say in the planned program. We had a session on paper quilling which was very fiddly but fun.” Aoife, Beth, Ellis, Sophie
