The Cubs have started the year with quite a busy diary. On Saturday 31st January they went on a Sleep Over to The Deep in Hull, which was organised by The Leeds Templars District team. Whilst at The Deep they were given a tour of the modern day attraction and even had a chance to touch some of the fish before bedding down for the night.
Some of the Cubs came back saying that they were being stared at by the fish in some of the big tanks that make up the aquarium displays. To say that they all had a great time seems to be an understatement, and to remember their stay, all t hose who went received a ‘The Deep’ pencil as a keepsake token.
Two Cubs, Abby & Ellie, were so impressed by their stay at The Deep they wrote an article about their Sleep Over and brought it to Cubs on the Monday and this work helped them both to obtain their Artist Badge.
We must give our Adult Helper, Louise Craddy, a BIG Thank You for taking the Cubs on this trip on our behalf, as we were unable to attend ourselves.

Only three days later, on the 4th of February, the Cubs attended the Annual District Tenpin Bowling Tournament, which was held once again at The Hollywood Bowl in Kirkstall, Leeds.
The Cubs played two games each and they played a very good game with Thomas scoring the first Strike shortly followed by Leah. Although they played an excellent game we did not win any trophies this year (I reckon we were just practising for next year’s tournament).
The Cubs are working very hard to achieve all their Cub Badges with great thanks going to our Young Leaders, Amy & Eoghan, who between them have organised the programme to cover the work required to obtain their challenge Badges and thereafter some of their Activity Badges.
Some of the Cubs have even brought in work that they have completed at home and had signed off by their parents. Thomas has gained his Martial Arts Badge for the Karate his does and Tyler has made a Bird Box which will give him his DIY Badge and also putting the work towards his Creative Challenge Badge. Well done to you all for your efforts.
The next significant date we have in our calendar is St. Georges Day Church Parade, on Sunday 26th April.
If you have a son or daughter who would like to join our Cubs then please bring them down on a Monday evening to The Newman Centre, Station Road, Crossgates, between 18.30hrs – 20.00hrs and speak to either Kevin (Akela) or Clare (Baloo)
Yours in Scouting
