First Reading: Acts 10:34, 37-43

God does not have favourites because God has the ability to treat each and every person as a favourite. When we have favourites we tend to treat some
people better than others. God treats everyone as if they were his favourite; loving each person completely and wholly. This is the wonder of God’s love.

Second Reading: Colossians 3:1-4

Heavenly things are not otherworldly things but rather life-giving things. All things that are life-giving are a reflection of the presence of God and therefore in essence heavenly things. When we engage in heavenly things, we are in effect building up the kingdom of God.

Gospel Reading: John 20:1-9

This first Easter morning was a life-changing experience for the disciples. There was a major movement from the initial reaction of fear and incredulity to profound belief. The dead to rise again, victory to be snatched from the jaws of defeat, how could this be? Could it actually be true that love is the greatest and most life-giving power? Could it actually be true that Jesus and his unconditional love had transcended even death itself?

This was a happening that was unbelievable, incomprehensible, unimaginable and yet, very real.
