Eighty Not Out.

Read 834 Times
A traffic officer was parked in a lay-by when a car passed going very slowly and causing a backlog of motorists behind. Concerned, he pulled the car over and found four elderly ladies gazing at him, He spoke to the elderly driver who looked about 80yrs saying, ďDo you realise it is very dangerous driving so slowly?Ē The driver responded, ďOh, I always drive to the speed limit, look, thereís the speed sign Ė A22. Trying not to smile the officer replied, ďThatís not the speed limit madam, itís the number of the road. ďOh,Ē said the driver, ďI didnít know that, thank you for pointing that out.Ē The officer looked into the car and noticed one of the passengers was shaking quite badly, so he said to the driver, ďOne of your passengers doesnít look too well madam.Ē Oh, she will be fine,Ē said the driver, ďshe doesnít like me driving at speed and you see weíve just come off the A120.Ē

Today, dear Lord I am 80 and thereís so much I havenít yet done.
I hope dear Lord that youíll let me live until Iím 81.
But then if I havenít finished all I want to do.
Would you let me stay a little while, until Iím 82?
So many places I want to go, so very much to see.
Do you think you can manage to make it 83.
The world is changing very fast; there is so much in store.
And so Iíd like to stay around until Iím 84.
And if by then, Iím still alive, Iíd like to stay until Iím 85.
Iíve always loved horse racing, especially over the sticks.
Iíd like to be around to see a winner, when Iím 86.
I know dear Lord itís much to ask and Iím looking forward to heaven.
But I would really like to stay down here, until Iím 87.
I know by then I wonít be fast and sometimes Iíll be late.
But it would be oh so pleasant to be around at 88.
I will have seen so many things and had a wonderful time.
So Iím sure Iíll be willing to leave it all, when Iím 89.... Maybe!

Embrace every minute of life, because they are all interconnected, one with the other.
They are all yours, because this is your autobiography
