New Deputy Head Teachers:

The year has got off to an exciting start at St. Theresa's. Mrs Ryan has taken over from Mr Flynn as Acting Deputy Head Teacher and Mrs Grady as Acting Assistant Head. We have also been through a process of selection for the permanent replacements for Mr Flynn. The Governors have decided to appoint two Deputy Head Teachers as part of a long term strategy to re-structure the Leadership Team. In September we will have a DHT for the Lower School (Nursery, Reception and Infants or KS1) and a DHT for the Upper School (Juniors or KS2). We had a great response to the adverts and applicants from as far afield as Bradford and Doncaster! After a long and exhausting process Mrs Ryan and Mrs Grady were appointed to the substantive posts and will begin their du- ties formally in September. Exciting times.

Great Send Off:

We gave Mr Flynn a brilliant send off... his words not mine... and he left smiling and reflecting on a job well done for the 18 years he was connected with our school. The children in Year 3 and Year 4 per- formed a special Nativity for him in French, which was one of the main high- lights of the end of term liturgies and concerts. We also had a party for Mr Flynn, which was attended by past and present colleagues as well as Brianís family, where the staff sang a specially adapted version of the Twelve Days of Christmas... not a dry eye in the house! The final Mass of term was also an emotional event as we finally said goodbye to our friend and colleague; he was showered with gifts and good wishes and left a very happy man! He tells me he is go- ing to buy a new bike with the money collected for him and Iím sure we will all see him cycling around Cross Gates and Garforth on his new bike before long! Happy days... for him at least!!

Until next time, yours in Christ; John Hutchinson, Head
