SVP Youth/16-33

Would you like to put your Christian Faith into action, joining with others to help those less fortunate in life than ourselves and would you like to reflect a little with friends on bringing Christ's love to people in need?
There are basically three different groups of SVP: Youth, usually up to 18yrs – 18-33 for the older youth if you like and then Mainstream or Senior SVP. Our group is open to all roughly within or around the ages 16-33yrs. So it's open to those who still consider themselves to be 'youth' but also to those a little older. By the way, 18-33 refers to the date at which time Blessed Frederic Ozanam founded the society when as a student in Paris he was challenged as to exactly what he did for society's poor and lonely.
Still retaining our own identity particularly when we meet just once a month (usually the last Tuesday in every month 6-7pm in St Theresa's Church quiet room) our main focus has recently been to support the work done by St Theresa's mainstream/senior SVP. The main reason for this is, as a very small group, there are only certain activities you can tackle. In the near future we hope to be finding out more about helping the 18-33 group of students who belong to Leeds University SVP. They have various other types of activity such as a soup/sandwich kitchen for the homeless.
Socially, we often get together to go out for a meal, usually a local curry house.
There is absolutely no pressure to keep on coming if it's not for you. No immediate commitment is necessary; just come and see if it's your kind of thing. Youth/16-33 SVP is an opportunity for any young person to begin find out within themselves what Jesus asks of them.
Please contact Alan if you want to find out a bit more.
