St Theresa's Retirement Club

Read 1844 Times
St Theresa's retirement club is open to anyone in the Cross Gates area who is sixty years old or above, the club meet every Monday afternoon from 2-00pm till 4-00pm.

It was set up about 20yrs ago, some of the original members still come to meetings today, we have entertainment on 2 of the afternoons a month, a free and easy where members catch on the local gossip with their friends another week, and maybe have a bingo afternoon on the last week.

It is self-financing with the small entry fee we charge, for this over the year the members have a free trip to the coast and the last 2 years a trip to the theatre at Christmas, we have a Christmas party and at least one other party during the year.

The membership about 18 months ago seemed to be dwindling so then we had a committee meeting and changed a few things we thought might help, the membership has since picked up we now have a membership of about 100 members and an average attendance of about 80 to each meeting.

We have a group of dedicated members who get there early every week to set the tables and chairs out and get the refreshments ready so there is no problem for members when they arrive.

New members are always welcome and will be given a warm and friendly welcome.
