A Pre-Marriage Course for Engaged Couples
Preparing for marriage can be one of the most enjoyable times of young couples' lives but while preparing for the wedding day itself can be both a time of excitement and joy, it is always full of hassle and stress. So how can we help these couples focus again on their relationship with each other and to think about what marriage really means? Answer – a pre-marriage course.
Tony and Sheelagh Pickles, and Mick and Jo Hill have been running parish pre-marriage courses for many years. With anything from three to seven couples on each course and one or occasionally two courses in a year, it's been a pleasure to meet so many lovely people over the years and to be a part of their lives at such an important time.
The course, which the parish offers over two three hour sessions, is based on a diocesan programme which offers a clear and structured guide to presenters, and which encourages couples to explore and discuss aspects of their married life together and to practice important skills in communication and conflict management. It is a flexible programme which can be used by couples with differing life experiences and different cultural and faith backgrounds.
Are you getting married in the next couple of years and would like to hear more about what the course is about?
Or are you married now and feel you might like to learn a little bit more about it and maybe help facilitate future events?
Please do have a word with us.
