Brownies and Rainbows at St. Gregory’s

(written on their behalf)
The Brownies and Rainbows have been running successfully at St. Gregory’s for many years under the watchful eye of Mavis and Ruth Walker and with assistance from Gillian. Their work with the children has been tireless.
They have been involved in many educational (and enjoyable) outings to varied places of interest around Leeds.
The children have performed carol concerts for the residents of some of our local homes for the elderly where they were touched by their appreciation.
They have baked hundreds, if not thousands of cakes and buns for sale in aid of charity, including that of our own church, St. Gregory’s.
Just recently they suffered a devastating blow when Mavis Walker died suddenly.
She had been the backbone of the Brownies and Rainbows for more than thirty years. She kept the Brownies and Rainbows going when lesser mortals would have opted for retirement and a gentler, less stressful pace of life. Mavis carried on with great zeal to teach the children a better way of life, to treat everyone they met with respect and to have a love of God.
She will be sorely missed.
May she rest in the peace of Christ amen.
