The Word of God - A New Scripture Discussion Group

Read 1764 Times
We should all be called to a greater understanding of our faith. If we don't make and take the time to try to find out more, how can we be sure of what we believe, to be true?

Ok, I hear you say, 'but we believe in all that we've grown to know and love and practised from being a tiny baby, most of us anyway. God the Father gives us this wonderful gift of faith, sustained in the knowledge that Our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ suffered death and rose again to conquer death and that's all we really need to know. But I say that there is so much that I don't know about, or understand fully about, all the wonderful stories in the Bible. Both Old and New Testament tells us many fascinating stories (The Word of God through Scripture) about how God the Father speaks to us through the prophets, Jesus the Christ and the Gospels, all through the power of the Holy Spirit.

There is so much in the scriptures which explains the 'whys and wherefores' of our faith. To look into these reasons as to why and where things happened and in such a way, or were said and how it was said, to examine and discuss so as to learn, should benefit us greatly and help to deepen our faith and love of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

I know I'm getting quite excited that Deacon Tom has decided to begin this discussion group and I hope that you too might at least give some consideration to popping along to join in and see what it's all about. I know I want to find out more. Come and see, every Friday afternoon in the Newman Centre from 3.30pm.
