Hag Dyke ChapelCubs decided that it would be nice to go away with the scouts in January for a weekend. It was decided to go to Hag Dyke which is a purpose built scout association hostel and is situated half way up Wernside in the North Yorkshire Dales. We have a few cubs that have never been away from home for so long and were slightly nervous when saying their goodbyes in the car park outside the cub rooms, but by the time the mini bus had turned the first corner and voices were at full volume in songs, the nerves had all disappeared. We arrived in Kettlewell where the snow had really begun to fall and settle. We then set to collecting our back packs and start the walk up Wernside to the hostel. The snow continued all weekend and we had great fun building snowmen families, walking and playing in the snow. The picture shows the chapel in front of Hag Dyke which is the highest consecrated chapel in England.

Cubs BowlingWe entered the bowling tournament which is an annual event in our district. Unfortunately, we didn't get placed this year so we didn't get to hold or place the trophy in the prize position in our meeting rooms. We did, however, have a great night and really enjoyed ourselves. We managed to get a good few strikes but just not enough. Here's to next year.

Marie Curie DaffodilWe also took on the challenge to grow daffodils to raise money for the Marie Curie Trust. We were all given a pot, some compost and a bulb. One evening at cubs we planted them all up and took them home. A few weeks later we brought our pots back to the meeting to show each other how well they were growing. We also decorated the pots and then went round to our families and friends to show them and collect the sponsor money. We will let you know in the next magazine how much we managed to collect. If anyone would like to make a small donation please put an envelope in the church foyer saying "Cubs Marie Curie".

We are now about to start saving the Sainsbury's and Tesco's Schools and Club vouchers. If you get any with your shopping please place them in the box we have left in the entrance to St. Theresa's Church.
