Dates for your diary! Leeds Newman Festival almost upon us!

During 22nd -26th September our parish will host a series of events to celebrate the imminent canonisation of Blessed John Henry Newman.
Please pop these dates in your diary so you can attend:

* Mon 23rd Talk by Fr Dennis Cassidy, 7pm
* Tue 24th Talk by Fr Richard Duffield, 7pm
* Wed 25th Talk by Mgr Rod Strange, 7pm
* Thu 26th Pontifical Mass celebrated by Bishop Marcus Stock, 7pm at Corpus Christi Church

After each talk there will be refreshments. Help is needed. If you can help please contact Mary in the office 2645260.More people mean we can spread the work.

After the Mass on Thursday 26th there will be a faith supper in Corpus Christi primary school. Donations of food & alcohol will be required. Food, savoury or sweet, of all nationalities will be welcome. More details next week.

Calling all singers! Sun 22 Oct, 2-5pm, Corpus Christi Church. We are hosting a "Come & Sing" workshop which will take participants through choruses from Elgar's masterpiece "Dream of Gerontius" written by Cardinal Newman. Booking is essential before 11 Oct. See posters & flyers for more details.

Sunday 22nd September Parish Pilgrimage to Birmingham Oratory

The coach will depart St Theresa's church at 12.00noon returning approx. 8.30pm Cost £30.00 under 18s cost £10 which includes a meal at a local restaurant. BOOK ASAP as coach will fill up.
The menu will be available next week.

Parish pilgrimage to attend the Canonisation of Blessed John Henry Newman in Rome.

Departing Thursday 10th October Returning Monday 14th
October.

There will be a choir practice for anyone interested in singing at the Pontifical Mass at Corpus Christi. This will be at St. Theresa's Church on the 16th September at 7.30pm

Fr Matthew Habron

Thank you to all who helped and attended the parish presentation for Fr Matthew last Sunday. His collection raised £1,251.20.

SVP AWARENESS MONTH SEPTEMBER

The overall theme for the year 2019 Awareness Month of September is "Love Your Neighbour''. What does it mean? And what does it mean to you ? Perhaps we can explore this together. Over the next month (each week) there will be a poster and a case study on the SVP porch notice board. We invite you to read the notice board and hope you find it interesting.

WEEK THREE : September 15th - Sept 21st
Theme for the week. FEED THE HUNGRY
Thank you for your weekly food donations which are taken to St Vincent's Food Bank and PAFROS: these donations are making a huge difference to families in East Leeds. During the summer holiday weeks SVSC fed 88 families each day although the children are now receiving a school meal they still need our contributions.

SVP ANNUAL SPONSORED WALK SUNDAY SEPT 29th AT 12.30pm: Two routes (2mls or 5mls) around Wetherby and the River Wharfe starting at St Joseph's RC Church Wetherby.
A friendly and fun event for individuals, groups, parish groups and families. Short route is wheelchair and baby buggy friendly and suitable for short legs or older tired legs! On return a free post-walk tea of sandwiches, cakes and drinks for everyone, treats for the children and certificates for all. It's a great day out for all. See for poster for entry details. If you are unable to join us you can help make a difference with your sponsor money. You can fill in your details on the sponsor form in the church porch. Monies can be left in an envelope marked SVP or handed in at the Parish office. Thank you for your support.
