Among the million young people in Madrid in August was a lively group of young people from our parish, with youth ministry team members Hannah Zafar and Alan Robinson. They were part of a strong contingent from Leeds Diocese, led by Bishop Roche. Travelling overland to Spain the first days were spent in prayer and preparation in the old capital of Vallodolid where young Englishmen prepared to become priests in the penal times after the Reformation. They then moved down to Madrid where Pope Benedict presided at great celebrations with the young Catholics from all over the world
