The Lord is compassion and Love
Read 1586 Times
In this season of Lent there is a need for each of us to sit and work out our idea of God. How can we obey and love a God we never try to picture in our minds? How can we ever feel his mercy if we never think of him?
Jesus said to his disciples, 'to have seen me is to have seen the Father'. So, already, we are given some quality of God. Jesus is in the image of the Father. Jesus said 'the Father and I are one' Again we are seeing how God is going to behave with us. Jesus said he 'came that we may have life and have it to the full' This gives us a God who wants us to be fulfilled and really live a meaningful life.
We must always, in quiet moments, speak to God in our hearts. We are meant to use our imagination and feelings to travel within ourselves and meet God in our very souls. No matter how much we listen to sermons and read books we need that internal contemplation to bring God to life from within. Once we establish that link to the presence of God in our hearts we begin to feel his influence in our way of thinking and in the way we look at life in general.
Jesus said 'make your home in me as I make mine in you' What a wonderful thought it is that our God wants to live in us to be with us. The Sacraments are another way of seeing the concern of God for us for at the big moments of our life he wants to be part of it.
Lent is a great time for coming close to God and making him our own.
