On Saturday 17th November at Kippax Leisure Centre, St Theresa’s Scout and Cub sections won the annual swimming gala for the second year running. The Beavers also took part in a very successful and enjoyable evening, attended by others from the troop and parents and friends, lending their vocal support to all the competitors.
The competition was fierce throughout the evening adding much to the enjoyment for the spectators, who by the end had to rest their raw and weary hands from the clapping. Other groups taking part were Newbourne, Epiphany, Crossgates, Manston, St Augustine’s, Garforth , Kippax and Whitkirk.
There were individual and squadron swimming and diving events and special mention must be made of Louise Corcoran, who won individual swimming and diving events and was a member of the winning Scouts squadron, along with Katy Tehrani and Sarah Kay, and Jonathan Childerson who showed his versatility over a number of events, contributing the most points of the boys to the overall score.
A new trophy was presented to the full team who were Eoin Byrne, George Corcoran, Louise Corcoran, Edward Corcoran, James Green, Sarah Kay, Brandon Poulouse-Daniel, Katy Tehrani, Andrew Walker, Alexander Ball, John Tehrani and Joe Dickenson.
Thanks must be given to the leaders who officiated and helped the whole evening run smoothly.
Well done everyone...... Get training for next year - there is a tradition to keep up.
